The Awakening

"The greatest discovery in life is the discovery of self. It is knowing who you are, and what you are here on earth for."
---Bishop David O. Oyedepo; 'The Winning Wisdom', pg. 207.

Hi there,

Glad you could join me. Trust you've been doing great.

With those thought-provoking words I open today's topic.

Promise you, I'm not going to take a philosophical or psychological approach to this topic of self-discovery. Rather, I'll share my experiment [better yet, encounter].

Credits to the works of great Psychologists and Philosophers, but TRUTH  be told, they didn't help me discover myself - might have worked for others, but it didn't with me.

Certainly I'm not going to take you through my long journey leading to self-discovery. However, it's just a little poem and a verse of Scripture from the Holy Bible that I'll share with you and leave you to think about them.

Here now is the poem I wrote on that. Read and feel free to share with friends.

 THE AWAKENING
There is going to be a moment of awakening.
For some it comes early, but for some others, later:
but it must come anyways.

That one moment when your whole life flashes before your very eyes in what appears like a split second;
with all the memories flooding back, and all the mistakes of your past become life-long lessons learned, never to be forgotten.

The moment when you become more aware of the very core of your being and existence;
when the pursuit of worthwhile dreams -- vision -- becomes the driving force of your living and the focal point of your life.

The moment when nothing else makes sense to you, save for the mission statement of, 'leaving humanity better off than when you met her'; and that by first discovering YOURSELF and your place in it.

That moment when, to you, the world centers not on trends, but on the pursuit of your vision and fulfillment of your purpose.
A moment when the "me-myself-and-I" syndrome is obliterated and completely replaced with a new normal, the "Us Mentality".
The moment of personal awakening is the moment of self-discovery -- when, at last, the answers to the questions, "Who am I?" and "What am I living for?" are found.

And:

"It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we heard of Christ,...He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone."
---Ephesians 1:11,12; (The Message Translation).

P.S.

The moment of awakening begins when you realize that there's only ONE YOU on earth, you have only ONE LIFE on earth; there's only ONE TRUTH to accept...and ONE DECISION changes the whole thing. (Will yours be wise or otherwise?) And that moment CAN be now!
I know you'll consider this a worthy saying and make the wise decision.

Talk to you some other time,
Much love.
